A1: Crisis > Change > Choice Workshop. Facilitative Crisis & Disaster Intervention to Build Resilient Communities
Presenter: Mark Pixley, CPF
IAF Core Competencies: B, C, D
Number of participants: 6-20
When a disaster strikes what can you do to help? Over the last decade, we have seen a range of natural and man-made disasters which are seriously affecting individuals and communities in Asia. Facilitators are uniquely positioned to provide assistance in the ongoing recovery process after a major disaster by helping individuals and community process their grief and move into a proactive, self-reliant recovery process.
The Crisis > Change > Choice Workshop prepares experienced facilitators for leading disasters recovery workshops in their communities. The program is firmly grounded in the Global Facilitators Serving Communities (GFSC) psychosocial reconstruction model and taps into the participants’ experience and local knowledge. This program will give you effective tools and techniques to enhance community resilience and self-reliance, now and in the future. Participants will receive a workshop manual with exercises, and workshop generated ideas will be collected and returned.
