B5: Presencing: An Experience of Otto Scharmer’s ‘Theory U’ group action learning process
Presenter: Noel E K Tan, CPF
IAF Core Competencies: C, D, E, F
Number of participants: 24-48
Otto Scharmer of the Presencing Institute has been developing and strengthening ‘Theory U’ as a way for profound change in human systems. A key aspect of Theory U is in generating deeper stakeholder awareness and joint problem-solving beyond words we can use to describe the problem. The process uses a combination of non-verbal communication and silence to deepen authentic awareness, shared observation and empathy. These are powerful motivators for prototyping that follows on from the action learning process.
This workshop will focus participants on bringing an onqoing inquiry about their respective facilitation practice and together as a workshop set, we will help each other co-sense and co-create the possibility for ‘prototypes’ that individually we can take away from the workshop to activate. Given the time we have, it is just perfect for a deep encounter with its core concepts and one of its powerful group tools – the case clinic.
